Presentation 3 Today we had the very last presentations. We learnt about different genres and songs. For instance, Anaïs helped us understand You're Beautiful by J. Blunt. At first it sounds like a regular ( normal, usual ) love song, but it's really the story of a pervert / drug addict stalking ( following ) a girl in the subway.  Likewise ( de la même manière ), Back To You features Easter Eggs about Selena Gomez's career. Nirvana's Lithium is entitled like such ( ainsi ) maybe because of the use of lithium for bipolar disorder. We also noticed that the lyrics claim ( prétendre ) that the narrator is "so happy",  whereas ( alors que ) the song itself sounds sad because of the minor chords ( des accords mineurs ).  Warm Up a series could, would, should to address someone a friend / a relative / a lover to cheat on

Presentations 2 Today we kept on listening to presentations. We discussed some rap songs that bordered on electro or other genres, with deep lyrics and subtle themes. We also discovered an uplifting, happy sounding rock song with pretty gory and sinister lyrics. There was an acoustic song by Bob Marley evoking slavery, and a fan song about the Smash Bros game series. Luigi looked evil. Another song by Billie Eilish described her fears / nightmares. warm up Levis  [livaiz] brand nike / reebok / coca cola hq (headquarters) corporate Jeans / denim to take a leap a significant other to comment upon something Chrysanthemum to rot unlike X to embrace war

Presentations 1 Today we listened to the first presentations about songs. The objective was to introduce the context of the song, to play the song itself, and then to talk about the meaning of the lyrics and the song, to analyze it. For example, we realized that the opening for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic was fast, easy to memorize and quite deep : it evolves with the characters. It is also satanic. In Jimi Hendrix's Little Wing , the bluesy part illustrated the sadness of the singer's emotions, just like My Demons evoked the emotions explored in the show. XXXtentacion's song was presented by Idriss, who explained that it wasn't a simplistic love song, but the story of a suicidal girl. Finally, we understand U2's Sunday Bloody Sunday was about civil war in Northern Ireland. warm up Iconic snare  kick cymbals hi hat a tribute to heavy metal i'm best friends with x we've been friends for x years.

The Second Meaning Of Let's Stay Together Today we finished talking about Al Green's song ; we agreed it was a love song, but in the article, Al Green mentioned there was another meaning, a spiritual meaning. Indeed, he said love songs were a way to talk about his love for God. It coincides with his decision to stop "secular music" (pop and rhythm and blues) to start singing Gospel. For him, soul music is inseparable from religious undertones ( des allusions ), because the most important message behind it is "I love you," and he insists that there's a "dual message" in his music, "of romantic and spiritual love." HOMEWORK Prepare a presentation about a song, an artist, or a musical genre that you love / hate / are interested in. It should be in English. Try and evoke: - context of creation - lyrics - themes - hidden meaning - ideas...

Scanning A Document About Al Green Today we scanned an article that was published in 2005. It was a biography and an interview of Al Green. It's a text about Al Green's career / the career of Al Green. We learnt he sang many kinds of music, like Gospel or soul... In the late 1970s, he gave up pop music for spiritual music ; indeed in 1974 he stopped music, because his girlfriend tried to kill him and killed herself / committed suicide after. That was because she was jealous. After his girlfriend's suicide, he changed his life for a spiritual life. He bought a church in Memphis, and made a study of soul music. After a pause of a few years, he released an album in 2003. This new album made more than 200.000 sales / His new album sold over 200.000 copies. 2000-2009 "twenty o 3," "two thousand three," "two thousand and three." -> 2003 to give up something for something Warm Up weed -> mauvaises herbes unweed -> désherber ...

Studying Let's Stay Together Today we watched a live performance of Let's Stay Together by Al Green. Some of us liked the song ; we noticed it was slow, and it features drums , a bass [be ɪs] , a guitar, and brass ( des cuivres ). We felt the atmosphere was happy, uplifting ( entraînant ), but it was paradoxical because the lyrics seemed sad. When Al Green sang , he used falsetto , and stretched some of the words. We still don't know who he's talking about exactly. We also noticed there were backing vocals ( a choir [kw ɑɪə] ), that repeated some of the lyrics during the chorus ( le refrain ), just like in Gospel music and work songs.  Warm Up summer camp April's fool I went there for 2 weeks to see the sights wealthy neighborhood
